The season for giving is almost here!!! Depending on where you stand economically or emotionally, this is either the most exciting time of the year or the most depressing.

Spread the Magic of the Holidays this Year!

Growing up, many of us were fortunate enough to have amazing holidays that left us with years of memories to reminisce on. As the holiday season approaches, I can't help but to think about the kids that have never known the joy of waking up to a full living room of toys and everything they could ever want.

I was talking to a co-worker about the holidays ... he said something that literally broke my heart. As a child, his mom suffered with substance abuse and he and his 8 brothers and sisters were raised by their grandparents. Naturally, the grandparents could not afford to provide a glamorous lifestyle for 8 children... his memories of Christmas were bittersweet. He and his brothers would wait until the more fortunate kids would come outside to play with their new bikes, when they weren't looking, they would steal the bikes and ride them for the rest of the day. They did this because they were angry and felt it was not fair that they hadn't received anything for Christmas. Looking back, he had realized that he thought it was his fault that Santa hadn't brought them anything, so he took it out on the other children in the neighborhood. The next morning, they would return the bikes to the homes and pretend as if nothing happened. He now over compensates for his own children and grandchildren, purchasing them more than what they need, to ensure they have everything HE ever wanted.

How many of us are guilty of this? Going the extra mile, to ensure that our children don't feel like they are lacking? This year, let's do better! There are millions of children who live with the same reality of watching other children, living in over abundance, while they live in a misery that they never asked for.

I believe that when you have been blessed with abundance, it's not for you to go crazy and purchase everything you can afford....just because! You're blessed in order for you to become a blessing to others. We all weren't dealt the same hand, if you have more, you should do more! That's why, this year we have teamed up with the Toys for Tots organization to assist in spreading the holiday spirit!

When shopping for the holidays, please remember the children who are less fortunate. Donate toys to your local "Toy Drop Site" and let's all do our part in spreading the magic of Christmas!
